Minister Dr. Shaheem Departs for Saudi Arabia to Attend Umrah and Ziyarah Forum, MoU Signing Planned for Hulhumalé Grand Mosque

The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has departed for the Saudi Arabia on an official visit.

The visit is to participate in the Umrah and Ziyarah Forum 2024, currently being held in Medina. During the trip, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is scheduled to be signed with a Saudi Arabian company for the construction of a major mosque planned for Hulhumalé.

Under the leadership of Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia have continued to strengthen. In this context, the Saudi government has been providing ongoing support to the Maldives, particularly in matters related to Hajj.

Furthermore, close collaboration is ongoing with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, with several joint initiatives being actively pursued. In addition, important efforts are also being carried out in coordination with the Saudi Embassy in the Maldives, reflecting the growing depth of cooperation between the two countries.
