Islamic Studio: A Pioneer in Islamic Media in the Maldives

In an era marked by rapid advancements in media and communication technologies, digital platforms have become essential tools for education, public awareness, and community engagement. Recognizing the importance of utilizing modern media for Islamic outreach (da‘wah), the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments of the Republic of Maldives established Islamic Studio in 2012 as a dedicated media platform for the production and dissemination of authentic Islamic content.

The establishment of Islamic Studio reflected the Ministry’s vision of harnessing contemporary media technologies to serve Islam and society. At the time of its inception, it was one of the pioneering institutional Islamic media initiatives in the Maldives, providing a professional platform for producing religious, educational, and awareness programs aimed at strengthening Islamic knowledge and values among the public.

Since its establishment, Islamic Studio has played a vital role in producing a wide range of lectures, educational programs, interviews, documentaries, and public awareness campaigns covering various aspects of Islamic belief, worship, ethics, family life, and contemporary social issues. The studio has also been instrumental in recording, broadcasting, and documenting major religious events, conferences, seminars, and official activities organized by the Ministry, thereby extending their reach to audiences throughout the country.

With the rapid expansion of digital media and online communication, Islamic Studio has continuously enhanced its outreach by utilizing social media platforms, live-streaming services, and digital broadcasting channels. These efforts have enabled the Ministry to reach a broader audience, particularly young people, while presenting authentic Islamic knowledge in an accessible, engaging, and contemporary manner. Since the launch of its official Facebook page, Islamic Studio has recorded more than 1.5 million views, demonstrating its growing influence and strong public engagement.

A defining characteristic of Islamic Studio is its commitment to promoting the principles of moderation (wasatiyyah), balance, and authentic Islamic teachings derived from the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Through its diverse productions, the studio seeks to strengthen religious awareness, preserve the Islamic identity of the Maldivian people, and contribute to the moral, intellectual, and spiritual development of society.

Over more than a decade of dedicated service, Islamic Studio has become one of the Ministry’s leading media initiatives, supporting its mission of Islamic education, religious guidance, and public engagement. It stands as a successful model of how modern media can be effectively utilized to promote Islamic values, strengthen community awareness, and foster a well-informed and spiritually enriched society.

Today, Islamic Studio continues to expand and enhance its media productions by embracing emerging technologies and innovative communication methods while remaining firmly committed to its core mission: serving Islam, educating society, and preserving the rich Islamic heritage and values of the Republic of Maldives.
