Leadership in Establishing National and International Islamic Conferences for Institutional Development and Community Engagement
- Initiated and led the first Fatwa Conference in the Maldives, organized by the Supreme Council for Islamic Fatwa as a pioneering scholarly platform bringing together leading Islamic jurists, religious scholars, and institutional representatives to deliberate on the evolving role of fatwas (Islamic legal edicts) in contemporary society. The conference addressed key thematic areas including the ethical foundations of issuing fatwas, the impact of fatwas in shaping social reform, the historical highlights of major religious edicts, and the application of technology in contemporary Islamic jurisprudence. By facilitating structured scholarly debate and knowledge exchange, the conference strengthened institutional frameworks for Islamic legal reasoning and contributed to improving public understanding of responsible religious guidance within modern societal contexts.
- Conceptualized and led the Hajj and Umrah Conference, an institutional platform designed to strengthen governance, coordination, and service quality within the pilgrimage sector. The conference incorporated keynote addresses, expert panel discussions, and technical sessions involving representatives from Hajj and Umrah service providers, government agencies, and religious scholars. Discussions focused on improving pilgrimage administration, strengthening regulatory compliance, enhancing pilgrim welfare, and addressing emerging operational challenges within the sector. The conference also hosted the Hajj and Umrah Exhibition, which provided the public with access to information on pilgrimage services, travel arrangements, and religious guidance, thereby strengthening transparency, consumer awareness, and sector-wide collaboration.
- Led the first International Zakat Conference (INZAC) in 2024 and 2025, organized by the Maldives Zakat House, bringing together local and international Zakat Experts, policymakers, and zakat management experts to advance modern approaches to Islamic social finance. The conference explored critical themes including digital transformation of zakat systems, modernization of zakat governance frameworks, legal and Sharia considerations relating to emerging financial technologies such as blockchain and cryptocurrency, and strategies for strengthening poverty alleviation through zakat institutions. The conference included participation from Maldivian and Malaysian experts in zakat governance, facilitating international collaboration and knowledge exchange aimed at improving the efficiency, transparency, and impact of zakat management in addressing social welfare challenges.
- Organized and led the first-ever Imam Conference in the Maldives, convening over 500 Imams from across the country to deliberate on professional challenges, mosque administration, and the evolving role of religious leadership in community development. The conference served as a major milestone in strengthening the institutional recognition and professional development of Imams. As part of the broader national initiative announced during the conference, a strategic plan was introduced to facilitate international training opportunities for 500 Maldivian Imams over a five-year period, aimed at enhancing theological expertise, leadership capacity, and community engagement across mosques nationwide.
- Initiated and facilitated the National Religious NGOs Conference, bringing together 98 representatives from 70 registered religious non-governmental organizations to strengthen collaboration between civil society and religious institutions in addressing contemporary societal challenges. The conference served as a platform to discuss issues affecting modern Muslim communities, promote coordinated religious awareness initiatives, and reinforce Islamic values in social development.
